External Cavity Quantum Cascade Lasers (ECqcL™): Daylight Solutions has developed a suite of mid-infrared (mid-IR) tunable and fixed wavelength lasers to support today’s cutting-edge molecular detection and imaging applications. Our award-winning technology continues to drive growth in Daylight Solutions as commercial and research applications in the mid-IR expand. The molecules you care about have a color in the mid-IR. If it has a color, you can see it and if you can see it, we can detect it.

Tunable Laser (Pulsed)

The Tunable Pulsed ECqcL™ laser system provides the user with over 100 cm-1 of tunability in less than a second. This translates to tunability of 5% to 10% of the center wavelength. The platform offers adjustable pulse widths anywhere from 40 nsec to 500 nsec and pulse repetition frequencies (PRF) from 50 Hz to 100 kHz. The system operates at room temperature, requiring no external cooling.

Fixed Wavelength Laser

Our fixed wavelength lasers are available in either pulsed or Continuous Wave (CW) mode. The systems are factory set to the wavelength of your choice with an accuracy of 1 cm-1 (30 GHz). As with our tunable systems, the fixed wavelength laser provides excellent beam quality and stability.

Tunable Laser (CW/Pulsed)

The Tunable CW/Pulsed ECqcL™ laser system is the laboratory work horse, providing the same broad tunability as the Tunable Pulsed system. However, in addition to Pulsed mode, the system also offers Continuous Wave (CW) operation.

Thermal Laser Pointers

Our suite of “Thermal Laser Pointers” are ideally suited for applications where small, handheld, mid-infrared illumination or pointing is required. Available in wavelengths ranging from 3 to 20 µm, these devices can provide over 100 mW of output power in a package weighing less than 2 ounces.

Tunable Laser (CW-MHF)

The Tunable Continuous Wave  Mode Hop Free (CW-MHF) ECqcL™ laser was developed for high resolution spectroscopy. This high-end system provides “continuous tunability,” also known as Mode Hop Free tuning, over a typical range of 60 cm-1. The combination of a narrow linewidth and excellent wavelength control allows for highly resolved spectral features using broad survey scans. Wavelength modulation over smaller ranges is also a standard feature of the CW-MHF system.

High-Power Lasers

Daylight Solutions offers high-power, multi-Watt, multiple-wavelength laser systems for a variety of applications, ranging from scientific research to defense and security. These unique systems can be configured for either free space or fiber delivery, with wavelengths ranging from 4 to 12 µm, and power levels as high as 15 Watts (depending on wavelength configuration).
