High-Power Lasers

Watt-class laser output in the mid-infrared is critical to address a multitude of applications. High-power lasers are used for marking and resistor trimming in Industrial markets. Laser scalpels are now becoming commonplace in the Medical field. Multi-wavelength, multi-Watt lasers are being used in Defense applications for detecting explosives and infrared countermeasures for protecting aircraft.
Daylight Solutions has commercialized a multi-wavelength, multi-Watt laser system named “JammIR™”. The JammIR™ product line integrates Daylight Solutions' patented External Cavity Quantum Cascade Laser (ECqcL™) technology into full turnkey laser systems that can provide high power output throughout the mid-infrared (3 µm to 20 µm). Leveraging Daylight Solutions’ precision ECqcL™ capabilities, wavelengths can be set very accurately to lie within very narrow atmospheric transmission windows, maximizing throughput and energy on target. The athermal design of the ECqcL™ keeps the wavelength extremely stable over a wide range of ambient temperatures and other environmental conditions.
Daylight Solutions' ECqcL™ technology is inherently very robust. There is no optical pumping or nonlinear frequency conversion steps required to generate output in the mid-infrared. All optical power is generated by direct conversion of the electrical input to optical output, translating in to extremely high reliability and lifetime.
