Sensors

Applications requiring the detection of molecular species continue to drive new innovations in technology. Monitoring of anesthesia and blood glucose in the operating room, ambient air quality and greenhouse gas emissions in the environment, and toxic gases in industrial plants is placing increasing demands on new sensor technologies and products.

Based on our patented External Cavity Quantum Cascade Laser (ECqcL™) technology, Daylight Solutions’ sensors can be rapidly configured to address a wide range of molecular detection problems. Operation in the mid-infrared (3-20 µm) aligns with the fundamental absorption of most molecules of interest, leading to high sensitivity. The mid-infrared also overlaps with the molecular “fingerprint” region, allowing for individual molecular species to be uniquely identified within a complex, changing background of interferants. Daylight Solutions' ability to rapidly scan (~ milliseconds) over a wide spectral range (>200 cm-1) enables real-time measurements to be made of heavy molecules with broad absorption features. New advances by Daylight Solutions have also enabled these sensors to operate at high electrical efficiency, leading to portable, battery-operated performance.

Daylight Solutions has developed the critical building blocks necessary to address next-generation sensor requirements. Please contact us to discuss how these capabilities can be leveraged to address both current and future molecular detection applications.
