QCL Technology: Protecting Those Who Protect Us

DRS Daylight Solutions is a one-stop shop for application-optimized performance. Our custom solutions, unmatched capabilities, and broad selection of products and chips can solve your most complex technical problems.

As a leader in QCL-based molecular detection and imaging systems, we introduced the world’s first laser-based infrared microscope. The Spero® microscope is used by academic and industrial labs worldwide.

Our ChemDetect™ Analyzer is compact and lightweight, making it suitable for a range of applications, including industrial process control, protein analysis, standoff detection, and materials processing.

We were the first to use QCL technology to protect U.S. Army helicopters from heat-seeking missiles. Our proven solutions in the defense and security industry help limit risk while advancing technologies that save lives and protect our soldiers.

At DRS Daylight Solutions, we believe that a good cause makes a great business. And there’s no better cause than protecting those who protect our lives, safety, and health. Since our founding in 2005, the applications for our quantum cascade laser technology have grown exponentially. Experts have written more than 150 scientific papers about us and published them in peer-reviewed journals that cover applications that include the following:

  • Scientific research
  • Infrared microscopy
  • Molecular detection and imaging
  • Process control
  • Infrared countermeasures

Our technology has been described as “enabling” for its ability to empower customers to develop OEM “sensor engines” uniquely suited to their specific applications. This capability has produced everything from battery operated sensors for hand-held applications to high-power, infrared countermeasures for missile defense. Together, our technology, products, and collaborative approach offer customers next-generation solutions and significant competitive advantages.
